When I sat down to read this kindle book between my 3 kids, my oldest who is obsessed with everything science and everything space related was pretty much the only one excited LOL.But once the first picture popped with all the amazing pictures of the planets my almost 5 yr old got immediately on board. Soon after my 3 yr old saw the picture of Neptune (which is purple) she joined in. This book is pretty informative and detailed. On top of the pretty awesome pictures, the descriptions of the planets prompted us to further investigate very interesting facts about Mars and its volcanoes. My kids were out of their chairs and pointing to the computer, talking about which one was their favorite, So interactive it was good to see them all on the same page for once. I REALLY loved this book because even though it is written with children in mind, I as an adult learned from it also... I think that's pretty neat. I feel Baby Professor hit the nail on the head with the right about of balance of descriptive context and stunning pictures. So all in all by the end of the book we were on Amazon looking for space decals to decorate their rooms. Smile

Wonderful book for children describing our solar system. "Our solar system consists of the sun, eight planets, moons, many dwarf planets , an asteroid belt, comets, meteors, and others. The eight planets that orbit the sun are Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune" The book has beautiful pictures of the planets and then goes on to describe where they are located in the solar system relative to the sun. It gives a little information on each planet, what we know about that planet and how it relates to the rest of the solar system. The book then goes on to describe outer space and things that happen in outer space. Then it describes what our atmosphere is and what it does.
My grandson is in 2nd grade, is an avid reader, he reads way above his school grade. He told me that vivid pictures allow him to use his imagine to transport him to another place and time. He would love to have this book in print to add to his extensive library, I may have to buy it for him and I am very willing to do so.

I'll be honest, I have I have downloaded a lot of these books by baby professor but they have all been fantastic. At heart I'm a big book nerd so being able to share these books with my 2 year old is a wonderful experience. It even makes me more excited as a science teacher that they have so many books covering Earth and space. My 2 year old enjoyed it too since this is her favorite topic currently.
Within this book are beautiful illustrations of our solar system. Even my two year old was able to identify each of the planets by picture.
Why Does It Happen? Planets, Outer Space and the Atmosphere Planets Book for Kids (Children's Astronomy & Space Books) the Edition contains information about the planets in our solar system, space and Earth's atmosphere. There are seven eleven that are presented. The facts are interesting and simple to understand. There are clear and beautiful photos covering these different forces of nature. They are very high resolution and are great quality on a phone or tablet screen.
I would definitely recommend this book (and the entire series) to parents, teachers and students.

This book is fairly short and that works well for younger children with a short attention span. I would say this book is best for the 6-8 year old range. As with all the Baby Professor series the pictures are stunning. Adults and children alike will enjoy learning new facts. Even as an adult I enjoyed the book and wish it was longer.
It is a great little book that is delivered in bite size pieces for young children to understand and enjoy. Each page features a fact and a pertinent picture. These are a great starting point for a deeper conversation that you can tailor to their age and curiosity. I recommend reading the version on a computer or color tablet to get the full effect of the color pictures.
I received the opportunity to review many of the Baby Professor books and I highly recommend them. I love the idea of electronic books. You can download a whole bunch of different books for the kids to read. Kids will love to read them over and over again and enjoy the pictures. I love that they are learning based and not just silly little stories with no meaning. I have no problem letting them sit down with the tablet and look through books, plus it is portable!
